Sabres Basketball is pleased to announce the signing of Jasmine Simmons for the 2018 SEABL season. Simmons joins the Sabres after a 4 year stint at the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence.
Originally from Mildura, Simmons captained the Australian Under-17 national team to a FIBA World Championship in 2016, making the FIBA U17 All-Star Five.
Late last year Simmons verbally agreed to join the Oregon State Beavers for the upcoming college season.
Head Coach Jonathan Goodman had this to say about the signing “Jaz is an exciting athlete who has had a lot of success as a junior. I am really looking forward to her bringing her athleticism and giving us great versatility across the board”.
Head of Basketball Brendan Joyce has high praises for Simmons “it is exciting to have one of the girls to come back from the Centre of Excellence and help her continue her development to her pathways into the future. Jaz is one of the best all round juniors that I have seen play for many years”.
