Ins: Cassie Hill, Morgan Riley, Chloe Hicks, Sophie Van Vliet and Renae Curtis.

Outs: Jess Williams, Kelsey Tranter, Rachel Fairhurst and Amelia Smith

How last year went: The girls had an up and down season last year. They struggled to find consistency but when they played at their best, they were able to beat anyone. They managed to make the finals but had to face the number one ranked side, Ringwood, and were eliminated in the first round.

Coach: Joanne Wood. This will be coach Wood’s second year in charge of the VYC women’s team. Prior to the VYCW team, Wood coached a number of successful junior Sabres teams including an U12’s team that won the VC championship and an U14’s side that won silver at the national championships.

Captain: The co-captains for this year will be Izzy Shea and Cassie Hill. “Izzy’s experience and great work ethic make her a valuable leader,” coach Wood said. “Cassie is a real team player who is always positive, always talking and always doing the little things that makes her so respected among her team mates.”

Season opener: 10.00am 11th March, @Dandenong Stadium Vs Dandenong Rangers

Strength: This team has great depth at every position. Coach Wood has an abundance of talented players she can use and the squad has a great mix of experience and youth.

What to expect: Coach Wood wants her team to run, run and run. They will look to push the ball at every opportunity on offense and try and be as disruptive as possible on defense.

Preseason form: The girls have played Kilsyth, Bulleen and Diamond Valley and coach Wood has been pleased with how they have performed both offensively and defensively.

Who to look out for: If Cassie Hill and Morgan Riley can continue shooting the ball like they have during the preseason; expect them to have big years. Meg Ragauskas sets the tone for this team defensively by putting teams under pressure up the floor and creating fast break opportunities.
